'Amr ibn al-'Āṣ asked: "O Messenger of Allah, who is the most beloved person to you?" He replied: "'Āisha." — "And among men?" — "Her father."

⚖️ The Slander (Al-Ifk) and Divine Innocence

Upon returning from the expedition of Banū al-Muṣṭaliq (5 AH), 'Āisha was slandered by the hypocrites, led by 'Abd Allāh ibn Ubayy.

  • 'Āisha, sick with sorrow, wept ceaselessly

﴿ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ جَاءُوا بِالْإِفْكِ عُصْبَةٌ مِّنكُمْ ۚ لَا تَحْسَبُوهُ شَرًّا لَّكُم ۖ بَلْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ ﴾

"Those who brought forth the slander are a group among you. Do not think it is bad for you; rather, it is good for you."
[Surah al-Nūr, 24:11]

'Āisha said: "By Allah, I never thought that Allah would reveal concerning me a Quran to be recited. I considered myself too insignificant for Allah to speak about me. But I hoped the Prophet ﷺ would see a dream clearing me."

Abū Mūsā al-Ash'arī said: "We, the Companions of Muhammad ﷺ, never had difficulty regarding a hadith except that 'Āisha had knowledge about it."
