صَبْرًا آلَ يَاسِرٍ، فَإِنَّ مَوْعِدَكُمُ الْجَنَّة

"Patience, O family of Yāsir! Your appointment is Paradise."

📖 Historical Context

In the early years of Islam, the most vulnerable converts — slaves, freedmen, unprotected women — paid the heaviest price. Among them, extraordinary women chose death over apostasy. Their blood founded the foundations of our religion.

  • 'Ammār: Born from their union, without tribal protection

4️⃣ The Martyrdom of Sumayyah

Sumayyah categorically refused to renounce her faith.

📜 ACCOUNT OF THE MARTYRDOM

Abū Jahl, frustrated by her resistance, said to her:
"You only embraced Islam out of love for Muḥammad!"

She responded firmly, refusing to blaspheme.

In a rage, Abū Jahl pierced her with his spear in her private parts.

She died instantly — the first martyr of Islam.

Abū Bakr's father said to him: "O my son, I see that you free weak slaves. If you freed strong men, they would protect you!"

Abū Bakr replied: "O father, I only seek the face of Allah."

Allah revealed: "...as for he who gives and fears Allah, and believes in the best reward..."
[Al-Layl 92:5-7]

3️⃣ The Revealed Verse

Surah Al-Layl (92:17-21):
"The most righteous will be spared, who gives his wealth to purify himself, not as payment for a favor done to him, but only seeking the face of his Lord, Most High. And he will surely be satisfied!"

These verses were revealed about Abū Bakr and his freeing of slaves.
