📖 Introduction

A Night That Changed History

On a night in the month of Rabî' al-Awwal, in the Year of the Elephant...

Mecca sleeps, and the idols stand silent around the Kaaba...

In a modest house in the quarter of Banû Hâshim, Âmina bint Wahb gives birth to her first child.

But this child is unlike any other...

He is the Seal of the Prophets, the Mercy of Allah to all worlds, the greatest human to ever walk this earth.

"And We have not sent you, except as a mercy to the worlds"

[Al-Anbiyâ': 107]

📜 The Story: 'Abdullâh set out on a trading journey to Syria. On the way back, he fell ill in Yathrib at his maternal uncles', the Banû Najjâr. He died there and was buried... never having seen his son.

👴 'Abdul-Muttalib's Joy

When the Prophet ﷺ was born, his grandfather 'Abdul-Muttalib carried him to the Kaaba:

'Abdul-Muttalib carries the newborn, enters the Kaaba...

He raises him toward the sky, thanking Allah...

Then he comes out before Quraysh and says: "This is my son, I have named him Muhammad"

The women of Banû Sa'd came to Mecca looking for infants to nurse...

It was a year of drought and famine...

Halîma came on a weak she-donkey, with her husband Al-Hârith and her baby...

All the women took children except the orphan... because the orphan had no money, and payment came from the father!


💝 Halîma Takes Muhammad ﷺ

🔪 The Extraordinary Event

While he was playing with his foster brother behind the houses...

📜 The Prophet's ﷺ Account:

"Two [angels] came to me when I was a boy. They took me and laid me down, opened my chest and took out my heart. They extracted from it a black clot and said: 'This is the portion of Satan in you.' Then they washed my heart with Zamzam water in a golden basin, and returned it to its place"

But safe, with a stitch mark on his chest...

Result: Halîma feared for him and returned him to his mother.

Decades later, Allah reminds him of this favor:

"Did He not find you an orphan and gave you shelter? And He found you lost and guided you? And He found you poor and made you self-sufficient? So as for the orphan, do not oppress him"

[Ad-Duhâ: 6-9]


👴 Under 'Abdul-Muttalib's Care

🛡️ The Loving Grandfather

After Âmina's death, 'Abdul-Muttalib took charge of his grandson:
