📜 The Sermon of the Farewell Pilgrimage
Introduction
"O people! Listen well to what I say, for I do not know whether I will ever meet you again after this year, in this place."
The Sanctity of Life and Property
"O people!
Your blood, your property, and your honor are sacred to one another, as sacred as this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this city of yours.
You will meet your Lord and He will ask you about your deeds.
Do not return after me to misguidance, striking the necks of one another!"
The Abolition of Pre-Islamic Practices
"All matters of the Jahiliyya (pre-Islamic ignorance) are abolished under my feet!
The usury of the Jahiliyya is abolished. The first usury I abolish is that of my uncle al-'Abbas ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib.
The blood-feuds of the Jahiliyya are abolished. The first blood I abolish is that of Ibn Rabi'a ibn al-Harith."
Equality of Races
"O people!
Your Lord is One, and your father is one (Adam).
There is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab, nor of a non-Arab over an Arab.
Nor of a red person over a black, nor of a black person over a red.
Except by piety (taqwa)!
The most noble among you in the sight of Allah is the most pious."
The Rights of Women
"O people!
You have rights over your women, and they have rights over you.
Your right over them: that they do not allow anyone you dislike into your beds.
Their right over you: that you provide for them and clothe them properly.
Treat women well, for they are like captives with you. They possess nothing by themselves.
Fear Allah concerning women! I advise you to treat women well!"
The Book of Allah
"O people!
I have left among you that which, if you hold fast to it, you will never go astray: the Book of Allah."
The Final Question
"O people! You will be asked about me. What will you say?"
They answered: "We bear witness that you have conveyed the message, fulfilled the mission, and advised the nation!"
Then the Prophet ﷺ raised his index finger toward the sky, then pointed it toward the people, saying:
"اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ، اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ، اللَّهُمَّ اشْهَدْ"
"O Allah, bear witness! O Allah, bear witness! O Allah, bear witness!"

﴿ This day I have perfected for you your religion, completed My favor upon you, and have approved for you Islam as religion ﴾
— [Al-Ma'ida: 3]— Source: Sahih al-Bukhari
'Umar's Reaction
📜 Scene :
When this verse was revealed, 'Umar ibn al-Khattab wept.
He was asked: "What makes you weep?"
He replied: "After perfection comes only decline."
He understood that this verse announced the end of the prophetic mission.

A Jew's Testimony
📜 Scene :
A Jew said to 'Umar after the Prophet's ﷺ death:
"O Commander of the Believers! There is a verse in your Book that you recite. If it had been revealed to us Jews, we would have made that day a festival."
'Umar asked: "Which one?"
He replied: "This day I have perfected for you your religion..."
'Umar said: "I know the day and place where it was revealed. It was a Friday, and we were at Arafat with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. And it is a double celebration for us!"
